MSG effects for human body

Is there relationship between MSG with Alzheimer’s?

MSG effects. MSG or monosodium glutamate is as a preservative as well as commonly used food flavoring. MSG can act as a powerful nervous system stimulant, so it has the potential to be toxic and worsen symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.Identification

Patrick and Edith McGreer said in the journal of Scientific American edition of June 2000 that Alzheimer’s is similar to auto-immune disease where the immune system turns against itself.

Deposit of certain proteins in the brain increase the toxicity of MSG thereby accelerating the brain damage caused by Alzheimer’s.

Effect
MSG affects the immune system by stimulating the nervous system hypersensitivity. This stimulus makes people with allergies and Alzheimer’s become more sensitive to various external substances such as tobacco smoke and pollen.

Treatment
A glutamate blocker drug called Dimebon which previously used as an antihistamine showed its ability as blocker of neuro-protective agents that calm the nervous system.

From the research results show that, the use of glutamate blocker drugs to treat Alzheimer’s, proved to show great results.

Prevention / Solution
Avoiding foods that contain MSG may reduce the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, perhaps even prevent the onset of this disease.
Avoiding the use of MSG can prevent nerve cell death due to toxic effects of glutamate.

Conclusion
Because glutamate increases allergic response, it becomes logically that antihistamine drugs glutamate blockers which serves to reduce allergy symptoms will be beneficial for Alzheimer’s patients.
